Avraham Soskin’s photograph “Ahuzat Bayit Society’s Lottery of Building Plots” from 1909 marks the site of the metaphorical founding of Tel Aviv and the covert point to which I direct my camera lens.
For the past five years I have been regularly photographing the Tel Aviv skyline seen from my home to the east of the cityline the foreground, the eye of the observer discerns a strip of land – with the aspect of an agricultural area signifying the vision of working the land. Beyond this – the changing horizon bearing witness to the realization of the dream of building the city and the country. And beyond both of these – the skyline marked by the protruding tops of the towers hinting that the sky's the limit.
Prolonged observation from my viewpoint opens up a perspective that affords an objective gaze encompassing time and expanse. In my work, I combine a didactic message together with a deep impression of the city’s distant beauty. I portray nature and record the dream. All of these sights are swathed within the confines of the ever-changing colors of the day and of the seasons.
