Photo book - AREA C - שטח
The book was published September 2016 along with a photography exhibition in the gallery 'Art Space TLV', Tel Aviv-Yafo.
I set out to observe the place and heard the cry of silence and the thundering sound of this harsh land.
2017 will note 50 years to the Six-Days War, in which attacks on Israel by Egypt, Syria and Jordan resulted in Israeli occupation of several territories, including the West Bank/ Judea and Samaria, defined as Area C in the Oslo Accords.
I was a sergeant in the Israeli Defense Forces in that war, and looking upon 50 years of occupation I set out in the summer of 2013 to familiarize myself with the everyday reality of Area C. My two years long photographic journey took me to villages and sites of varying accessibility, even the most easily reachable among them undermine one's sense of personal security. I let the lens capture existence, so that the photographic act may introduce the place to those for whom this reality is hidden. The journey was intricate and multifaceted.
